Do Dah Day 2011

Remember this cutie pie from Halloween???

Well, she was sweet enough to loan Shelby her cute pink poodle costume for Do Dah Day. Shelby We have been to Do Dah Day many times before. This is the the first year we have had the opportunity to be in the actual parade. Here is my cutie...

Enjoying a nice cold bottle after the parade and a wardrobe change.
Actually, I just figured out that Shelby and Charlie are basically the same age in the costume.

Shelby playing

Here are photos that I snapped on my camera phone of Shelby playing in her newly revamped room.  She is wearing a shirt her Daddy bought her at Do Dah Day which was the smallest they had..a child size small.  Enjoy!

transportation week

This week has turned out to be transportation week for Shelby-lou-who. She got her new stroller ending the "that that we do not speak about" stroller drama at our house.
She also got this little stroller car as recommended by her cousin Henry as one of his favorite things. She is going to be in a parade on Saturday and this will be her car. Stay tuned for photos of this fabulousness!
Mr. D. is out of town taking a class and he saw his Mother yesterday. She has sent Shelby some other type of car too..... thus officially making it transportation week!

Thursday 13: 13 things that have changed since I blogged about it in 2007

With my recent 4 year blog-iversary just happening last week a friend of mine suggested I take some of the early blog entries and tell how things have changed 4 years later. It has been so fun looking back. Here are 13 things that have changed since I blogged about it in 2007. Enjoy!

In this blog entry titled “Why I can’t get anything done“….I cited that Brady was the reason I can’t complete any projects….. Fast forward 4 years and the new reality is that I still never get anything done. I can’t really blame Brady or Shelby or anything else. I have decided it is just a personality trait of mine to never be able to get anything done. I am easily distracted and a professional procrastinator.

In this blog entry titled “the new chair” I stated that the new chair was quickly becoming my favorite place. The 2011 truth is that I rarely sit in this chair. It is great for holding my stuff I take back and forth to school when I am home.

In the blog entry titled “How I spent my afternoon” - this little guy will be 6 in a few days and will be leaving my class after three years of getting to enjoy his company. He is also no longer my next door neighbor which I am very sad about as well.

In this- one of my most popular blog entries titled “my pocket book” I listed all of the things in my purse. In 2011 I no longer carry a purse. I only carry a Vera Bradley wristlet which easily attached to Shelby’s diaper bag when need be.

In the blog entry titled “finding my center” Tiffani and I were attempting to make a list of 100 things about ourselves. She had 44 at the time I posted and I had 21. I am not sure if we ever blogged the rest of the list but she did tell me in a fairly hilarious conversation a few minutes ago that she recently found her 100 list while cleaning out her guestroom.

In this blog entry titled “Book Club”… well the book club is no more. But, I am still reading. I am currently reading the new Tina Fey book on my Kindle.

In the blog entry titled "Fly Fishing lessons", Mr. D. and I took lessons so that we could possibly hang with the cool kids on an upcoming trip to Lake Tahoe for his family’s vacation. The 2011 take on that was that it was a total waste of our time, energy and money. We have only gone fly fishing that one time and for just a couple of hours. Wait- I may have possibly just thought of some items we could sell on Ebay!

In the blog entry titled "700" I had posted about having 700 viewers to my blog. As of this post, I have had 40,303. Of course if memory serves me right I think I had to start over at some point.

In this blog entry titled "the S list", I list products I just loved. The 2011 take is that I no longer have polarized sunglasses thanks to a big wave in St. John. I never use V05 hair products any more but I do still love the other items.

In the blog entry titled “thirteen people I would like to have dinner with” I listed people I would invite to my fictitious dinner party. In 2011 I would remove some people off of the invitation list. So scratch off The entire cast of big brother season 8 minus Jen, Ceasar Milan, George Winston, and Billy Joel. In their place I would add Kate, the Dutchess of Cambridge, her sister Pippa of course, Steve Carell, and Tina Fey.

In the blog entry “Kate and the thirteen things she ate for lunch” I made a list of all that she had. I didn’t really even know Kate all that well at the time. Since that blog post she has moved into teaching in my classroom and no longer can enjoy all of those peanut buttery products in our nut-free class.

In the blog enrty “my masterpiece” I created a painting…. A painting in which I no longer have in 2011.

In the blog entry titles “the things I am not meant to own” I told about this bell lid that I had several of and kept breaking. I can say I have had my latest one for years with no incident…. It doesn’t have a monogram but that is ok.

Shelby at 9 months

Shelby is seconds away from taking her first steps. She cruises everywhere. She want to standing or walking all the time. She is also a climber. She is very calculating and will move things into position to help her climb to where she is wanting to go.
Shelby is in 12 and 18 month clothes. She is starting to be able wear a few hair bows. Her hair is very fine. After her naps she usually has a crazy case of bed head.
She is a happy little girl. It is rare to hear her fuss and if she does she either needs a diaper, a bottle or she is hot. She has a sing songy little voice and is usually just chattering away.
Shelby loves a bath! She would spend the whole day in the tub if we would let her. She plays with her bath toys. She especially loves her bathtub Baby Alive.
Shelby is beginning to enjoy broken up table foods. She eats with both hands and likes to put as much in her mouth at one time and she can fit. So far Shelby loves everything she has tried. Her favorite foods are blueberries, green beans, cheerios, peas and carrots. Shelby is still not to keen on the sippy cup. She loves her bottle and that is that. Shelby says lots of words like "da" and "ma" and "ba-da" (which is Brady), "bye" and lots of other babbling words. She also gives air kisses and fake sneezes. She is starting to laugh a little more but she certainly saves the belly laughs for special occasions.
Shelby has 7 teeth. Four on the bottom, three on the top. She loves to brush her teeth and already wants to be independent and do it herself.
Trying to diaper Shelby is like trying to tame a wild horse. She likes to flip over and try to crawl away. She wears size four diapers Huggies Little Movers and Huggies overnight diapers at night.
Best nine months of my entire life!

What were you doing 5/6/07?

I was doing this.....and that started it all.

and the stockpile grows

Today Nonnie (my Mother) brought the formulas that she had been buying with the before mentioned Similac coupons. She brought 44 bottles for a savings of $180 using $5 and $3 coupons. My friend Tiffani purchased 7 bottles (saving $35) for Shelby today with some coupons I gave her. CVS has the bottles on sale for $4.99 and I gave her $5.00 coupons so we only had to pay tax. Today I gave my Mother the last of the coupons I have. We have enough coupons to get us to Shelby's first birthday at which point I am sure she will be switching to milk. Can you believe she will be 9 months old on Wednesday???

Tonight my friend Tiffani and I went to CVS to get some great deals.  With the store sales and my coupons I saved $33.20.  I got all of this stuff for $16.24 plus I have $2.00 in Extra Care Bucks to use for my next trip.

PS...we dont even use this deodorant but the deal was so great I bought it to donate for Tornado relief which is my new personal mission.

savings this week

This past week I was able to save $26.50 at Bye Bye Baby using coupons for formula, pajamas, baby food and I used 2 of the 20% off for discounts on a crawl tube and a sippy cup. I also saved $10 on formula. My mother is helping me with my formula stock pile and she added 8 more bottles this week as well saving her $40 using our coupons!!

On a side note, I did not need to make a regular grocery store trip this week. Mr. D. and I did go to Costco and stocked up on meat, but we had enough in the house to not have to go to the regular store. We did save $2.50 at Costco on our laundry detergent.

Total savings this week: $39 for me, and $40 for my Mother for Shelby.

Changing of the frame

While Shelby and Brady looked on I changed the big frame that lives in our hallway from baby Shelby to a much more mature baby Shelby.

The Mother's Day cards....

...are in the mail!

what do you get???

What do you get when you mix a pair of overalls in the "too short" box, 3 old bandana type napkins from barbecues past and a little ribbon off of a purse?

This:

Then what if you go to the store and buy a hat, some string for a lasso and add a hairclip from the hairbow collection????

You get this:
And that my friends in one cute little cowgirl!!!

She was all dressed up for Alice's 6th birthday party with a cowgirl theme!

was it a dream??

This morning I thought I saw a little garden gnome happily pulling weeds from around my petunias.......
