Thursday 13: Thirteen Pictures from my night out

My sweet hubby is out of town- so I took advantage by going out with my good friend Tiffani for some girl time. We started at the mall... where I once again didn't buy shoes. I have been looking for shoes since November.
1) We headed to Applebees where I had a gift certificate thanks to the best secret pal in the world.

2) When we got to Applebees I said goodbye "new way of living" hello mini bacon cheeseburger.

3) I also had a tea- did you know I have been "coke free" for over a week now?

4) We had a long discussion over this Mayonnaise. It stated on the packaging "no refrigeration needed" I think this is the craziest thing I have ever read.

5) Here is a picture of Tiffani at Applebees.

6) Here I am at Applebees.
7) Here is our free dessert we got for our super long wait. We waited so long that we missed the 7pm showing of Juno..

8) so we used my Rave gift certificates...9) and saw this instead.

10) Here is a picture of a picture of me in a Bridesmaids dress. ( I am next to the bride)
11) Here is another one- just for laughs (especially for my friend Karen!)(again, I am next to the bride.

12) The entire evening only cost me

Not bad for such a fun night out.

13) This is the sweet face I got to come home to.

She's here!

Here is the car that Mr. D. has been waiting on FOREVER. She arrived yesterday and they added a wing to the back. He picked her up at 6:30 last night- only to leave for the airport this AM. So she will not get to be played with until Saturday. (Heck NO! He didn't leave her home with me! ) We named the GPS lady Lola- just like Karen and Jonathan. She is pretty nice and I like having her tell us how to get from here to there. I just can't wait for my hubby and the new car to be home! Of course- he has been traveling since 6am and STILL hasn't made it to San Francisco. He has had a miserable travel day. I hope he can shake off the bad luck before the return home (and the Super Bowl)!

my first shipment

Today, I got my first shipment from Salutations!

Unfortunately, I had to make a custom order for 4 sympathy cards. I also chose one of the fun cards for a friend of mine. I am very impressed with the quality of the work... though knowing Meredith- I expected nothing less that beautiful. I am so excited about my order and I am also excited that Meredith is following her dreams with her store! If I only had some stamps I could get these in the mail tomorrow.

a tale of two blogs

As you know Saturday night, I went to my husband's friend's birthday party at a Karaoke bar. I can't remember a time (with the exception of funerals) that I have had less fun. As you may know I HATE concerts and loud music. This was pretty much what I got- except in a gross smoky environment with.. well, not the most talented of singers. I now know how Simon, Paula and Randy must feel. There was only one singer of note - a rising star named Tiffani and you can click on her name to read her account of the evening- which is much different than mine. Perhaps the highlight of my evening was when I visited the bathroom which was the size of my closet. The back stall was closed and this girl suggested that we might want to crawl on the floor and unlock it from the inside because it was just locked and no one was in it. I assure you dear readers, I not now- nor ever have been the type of person who would even consider crawling on a nasty public bathroom floor. I swear there wasn't enough disinfectant in the world to get me clean after being in that bathroom. I raced home for a long shower and even used a body scrub all over. The ONLY great thing about my night was this strawberry cake that was served. AMAZING! It was so good, I could only eat 1/2 a slice because that is how rich it was. I had forgotten how much I love strawberry cake. MMM.. Here is a picture for Tiffani enjoying her time at the karaoke bar and me pretending to.

perfectly wonderful Saturday

I am having a perfectly wonderful day. It started early, as Mr. D. had to be at work by 8 this morning. I lazed in the bed for about a half hour after he left planning my grocery shopping. I went to treat myself to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and then to the market (because you should never go to the market hungry!). I don't know how, but this week we managed to run out of everything. Dog food, toilet paper, trash bags, laundry detergent - all of the basics. I also have officially stopped drinking soda, so I had to look through and pick out a few flavored waters for when I am sick of drinking regular water. I bought groceries for the week and a gift for sweet Reid. Doesn't this look like a whole lot of fun!
I had a long chat with my MIL- Linda while I shopped and it was fun to pass the time that way. After the store I gassed up my car and went to CVS. I came home and cleaned out the freezer, refrigerator and pantry while I put the groceries away. Mr. D. came home bringing up subs and chips from Publix. What a treat. He is such a great guy! We ate and caught up on a few of the American Idols we have Tivoed. Now he is playing Guitar Hero and I am just blogging and relaxing. Tonight, we are going to a birthday party of a co worker of Mr. D.'s. It is at a Karaoke place. I have never been to one and I really don't know what to expect. I just know I will not be the one on stage singing!

bragging on Mr. D.

Tonight, my husband went to a work function and while he was there he was named the Manager of the Year for his work. What an honor to even be considered- and even more of an honor to be chosen. Way to go Mr. D.!

drugs

Last night, I noticed a mystery pill on the living room floor. I quickly identified that it isn't any of the 800 pills I take a day. It wasn't my husband's because he is pill free. I emailed my mom and she emailed me back this AM that it wasn't her pill. I did a lot of Internet detective work and I think it is a Clarinex. If you have been to my house and you lost a Clarinex - fess up so that I can put this mystery to rest.

my career as a rock star

I have spent some time since Thursday working on my career as a rock star. I will not be quitting my real job anytime soon. It has become very obvious that I am "beat deaf" (I don't know if this is an actual affliction). I really stink at this game, but I am very determined. Today was the first day I completed a song- in fact today I completed 2. I have earned $150 for all of this work. If I divided it out by the amount of time it took me to get this far- I am sure I made less than minimum wage. So, you will most likely not see the 9oh21ho's playing in your town anytime soon. I am playing as Casey Lynch and So far, I have completed Slow Ride (made famous by Foghat) and Hit Me With Your Best Shot (Pat Benatar). Rock on!

UPDATE Monday at 6:16:
I don't know what must have happened overnight, but today I came home from school and cleared 8 songs, made lots of money and got some sponsorships. Strange since I was so bad yesterday- but fun none the less!

MORE UPDATE Tuesday at 9:30:
I have now cleared 6 levels on this game. It is on the easy setting of course! I rock! I bought my girl a new outfit and a new guitar.

snow-licious day

It is snowing here! It has been snowing pretty steadily for about 2 hours now. It is starting to accumulate on the ground. We just took Brady out in it and he loved it! Here I am kissing Brady's cold wet nose in the snow.
UPDATE- It is 11:38am and the snow has stopped and the sun is shining bright. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted!

double the fun

Last night- we had double the fun. Our friends Leah and Reid invited us over for dinner. We had very very yummy pizza and salad. Reid showed of his talents of staying in a sitting up position and of course his crawling. Here is a picture of Reid halfway between sitting up and falling down. I took it on my camera phone. He thought the falling down part was very very funny. I can't believe he is 6 months already.

I gave Reid a bath and got to snuggle him to sleep. My Friend Leah is sweet to share!

After we left their house at 9pm, we drove home. As we were pulling in the driveway our neighbor Matt was in his driveway. They just got a Wii and said wii could come play! Wii grabbed our Wii controllers and went over. Wii played for about 2 hours. The game we played was called Mario Party. It was a great game and I loved it! What a great night with DOUBLE the fun!

Thank you!

Thank you to the person who is reading my blog from Chelsea, Alabama- you were my 4500th reader!

suggestions please

I am now taking suggestions on what my band name should be on Guitar Hero 3. It says in the booklet that the band name is crucial because it could mean the difference between playing at a youth center or a sold out concert. So.. what do you think?

a conversation with Mr. D.

My husband called me from the car after he landed at the airport. He had read my blog about the awesome surprise I had for him. Here is the conversation recap:

Mr. D.- I saw your blog and do you know how mad I am going to be if I walk into the house and there is another dog there?

Me- Why would you be mad?

Mr. D.- Because it is a big decision and I can't believe you would get a new dog without even discussing it with me first.

Me- But what if it was a cute sweet pup who has been here since Saturday and is just waiting to meet it's new daddy?

Mr. D.- (lots of foul language) ...It's not staying

Me- You mean it has to leave? Be homeless? Go Back?

Mr. D.- I don't know but we are not keeping it.

Me- really?

LONG PAUSE

Mr. D.- Did you really get a dog?

Me-No your surprise has nothing to do with a dog

And the flipping awesome surprise is... drumroll please.....

Thursday 13: thirteen reasons why I am excited for my husband to come home

As many of you know, I have been living the bachelorette life since Saturday. Now my guy is coming home and here are 13 reasons why I am excited.
1) I have a FLIPPIN HUGE surprise for him and I can't wait to see his face.
2) I need someone else to tell Brady to get off of the bed.. (haha)
3) He bought me a present in Seattle and I can't wait to see what it is.
4) The laundry is piling up.. (hee hee hee)
5) I can never remember which shows come on which days without him.
6) I can't clear a board on Rayman's Raving Rabbids. (neither could my mom)
7) It is cold here- I need someone to keep me warm
8) I need someone to compete against at Wii sports.
9) It's almost the weekend and I am looking forward to just hanging out with my best friend.
10) It's just not fun around here without him
11) I am probably way over on my texting plan as it is.
12) So I can say "I took care of Brady this week all by myself- it's your turn"
13) Did I mention the FLIPPIN HUGE surprise... I can't wait! (I will be blogging about it soon. If you can't wait to find out- email me!)

Update: I thought of something else... He took the laptop and the camera and I can't wait to see them again!

and we're back

I just got home from dinner with a friend. On my porch was a huge surprise. It was a package from my Mother-in-law (Linda) and Sister-in-law (Meredith). Here is it- a 3rd bell top. The note enclosed said the 3rd time is a charm--- let's all keep our fingers crossed that I do not break this one like the other two! Thanks girls!!! I love it!

strange phenomenon

I have had a strange phenomenon that has happened for the past 2 days. The minute I leave school my throat starts getting scratchy. It seems that the only thing that will make it feel better is an ice cream cone. Since I know you all look to my for advise, here is some for you. I prefer the Sonic 99 cent cone I had today to the 99 cent McDonalds cone I had yesterday. It is really a miracle that my throat miraculously feels fine after enjoying the cone. (Now- if you are my Veterinarian cousin- STOP READING) I eat the ice cream part and when I get home I give Brady the cone and whatever ice cream is down in it. He liked the Sonic cone better too. I could tell because he took it in his house and turned to the back as if I were going to steal it from him. He is such a funny pup!

weekend recap

I have had such a crazy weekend. Here are the highlights-
Friday night- dinner and Walmarting with Leah and Reid.
Saturday- Hubby left on his business trip. I started mission-Eliminate '08/ organizing finances. I took lots of things out of the closet and sorted it all out. The recycle bin is 1/2 full of all kinds of clutter I didn't need to keep. I mostly hung out by myself this day and took advantage of some much needed "me" time.
Sunday- Cleaned some more, watched a bad movie (American Dreamz)- then Tiffani came for lunch and Wii. We went for pizza, but the pizza place was closed so we ended up at Logan's. We played Wii to the point that I thought I might have a seisure- about 3 hours of Rayman's Raving Rabbids. Then we played her Dance Dance Revolution on the playstation 2 (because she has 2 mats and we could dance off). It was SO much easier than my game. I love my game though because it makes you work out more to get the great scores. We had fun and ate pizza for dinner. She left around 9 and now I am getting ready for bed.
I am mailing something special to one of my readers tomorrow... I wonder who the lucky reader is???

never assume

I assumed that Brady was happy to see me this afternoon. He jumped through the air knocking me down for what I thought was going to be a licking of my face. Turns out- I had worn a noodle necklace home from school today. (My sweeties at school make them for me all of the time, but I usually don't wear them home) He was after the noodle necklace only- no kisses for me!

Thursday 13: thirteen tracks on the train wreck of emotions

Here is a list of some of the feelings that I have been feeling this week. The second week of 2008 had been a CRAZY one!

1) SADNESS- I learned that my friends are having a rough time right now and I am so sad for them.
2) SHOCK- Someone actually said to my face that they didn't like me. I was shocked not only that anyone would be so bold.... but also that the concept of someone not liking me is even possible.
3) PISSED- A punk kid in the first grade asked me if I didn't think I was a little old to be playing the Wii! I informed him that they use them in nursing homes - so no!
4) EMBARRASSED- I ran over our recycling bins on the way out of the driveway on Wednesday. I was so embarrassed and hope none of the neighbors saw! (FYI - I was applying chap stick at the time)
5) FLATTERED- My husband and I had a date on Monday night- He was super sweet to me!
6) FRUSTRATED- Super Mario Galaxy is getting tough! We also have a new rabbit game and I keep killing the rabbits because I can't figure out how to feed them.
7) EXHAUSTED- Wednesday afternoon I took a 30 minute nap in which I was in such a deep sleep I think I woke myself up snoring! (flattering huh?) Once I woke up I was in a total daze!
8) COZY- I have a new faux fur blanket in my comfy chair- super cozy!
9) SILLY- We had friends over for Wii this week and it was a silly time!
10) EXCITED- we got a package from my Grandmother-in-law! Fun Stuff.
11) PEACEFUL- there is nothing more uncomfortable than being on the couch with an 87 lb dog on top of you... but still- it is very peaceful too.
12) WORRIED- We are under a TORNADO WARNING!
13) SNUGGLY- Reid's school closed early (just like mine) and I picked him up. We came to my house and crawled into the bed (yes- he is crawling now). We snuggled and cuddled and just napped all afternoon. It was heaven!

catching up

I was just looking at my mile long list of things to do. In an effort to continue to procrastinate... I remembered that I never took pictures of the cards I made last week at Allison's House. I was lucky that Allison had a really cool swirl punch that offered all types of inspiration. I am going to have to borrow it from her- or probably just get one of my own. I am hopefully writing the thank you notes today and mailing them TOMORROW! This is really my first card making experience (unless you count invitations- I have made LOTS of invitations.) Here they are.

Wii are still having a blast

Last night, Natalie and Jesse came over for dinner and Wii. Natalie tried to smuggle in her own little bowling ball in for the Wii Bowling.
Isn't she a cute mommy-to-be? They are counting the minutes until April when little Cecilia arrives. Meanwhile, Jesse showed off his awesome dance moves on Dance Dance Revolution.I love all of my friends for letting me post these crazy pictures of them on my blog- especially Jesse! I love that he had to hike up the pants legs in order to score higher. Of the four of us- Jesse was the best at Dance Dance Revolution. Wii just keeo having more and more fun this game system. I swear I am becoming a gamer.. haha!

my class

I rarely talk about my kids on the blog- but I am currently seeking some much needed advise. As many of you know I teach the 22 most amazing three, four, five and six year old children on the planet. They are getting a little antsy about wanting a new class pet. In an effort to avoid anything rat-like, we have been talking about getting a bird. A small, sweet, low maintenance, non biting fun bird (or maybe 2 if they are really small). Does anyone know anything about birds and have a suggestion of what we should get?

Check this out.... who knew?

scene from my house

Last night:
Mr D.: What time should I set the alarm for?
Me: Well, my Doctor's appointment is at 7:30- but it is just a blood test, so I can be ready to go fairly quickly- so whenever you want to get up will be fine.
Mr D.: OK I will set it for 6:25
Me: OK

We go to sleep.
This morning

Mr D.: @&%$ - it is 7:15 the alarm didn't go off (actually it had- but the sound was turned all the way down so we never heard it)
Me: What??
We quickly get ready and both leave- Mr. D. had to go back to work today. (boo hoo)
I get ready as fast as I can. Call Dr. office- they are not open until 8 (just the lab is open early). Get dressed as fast as I can and leave. Get into the car- no gas. Stop in the 25 degree weather to get a little gas. I literally just stood there until I was miserable. I only got like 10 gallons. I drove the 14 miles ot the Doctor's office. I get there - no one cared that I was late- no was was as stressed about it as I was. In and out in less that 20 minutes. Now I am at home enjoying my last day off before back to school tomorrow. I am trying to get everything I had wanted to accomplished.. but instead I am blogging and relaxing. There will be plenty of time to get everything done- but today is my day to RELAX!

Wii-ing the new year

Today, some friends stopped by to play Wii. It was a great way to Wii in the new year! It is truly a game for all ages!

belle of the ball

Last night, we went to the Hats and Horn's Societe Ball for the 3rd year in a row. It was so much fun. The band started at 9 and we danced danced danced! All of that time I spent on Dance Dance Revolution this week really paid off.. haha. This is a picture of me taken at the event. Everyone wears a hat and for the third year now- mine was the tiara. I am planning on retiring it this year in hopes that I can beg my new friend Jonathan to make me something FABULOUS for next year. Happy New Year dear readers! Make 2008 great!
