what a score!!!

Today, as if by divine intervention- a parent in my class brought us a table and chairs, but the table and chairs came with strict instructions that it could not enter our class until the family moves away next month. She doesn't want her little girl to know that she got rid of it. What's a girl to do?? Bring it home of course and set it up for the sweeties I am going to be having later in the week. Then, when they are finished, I can take it back to my class this fall. I can't tell you how excited we are about our upcoming visitors.

SSDC recap

Mr. D. was a wonder yesterday. A fixer by nature, he jumped on the Internet and got a few recipes for a wonderful event. You should have heard his motivational speech about how the SSDC (5th year of) and the Superbowl party (6th year of) defines who we are and I needed to get into motion--- priceless. You rock Mr. D.! What a fun guy that I am lucky to know.

Mr. D. spent a lot of time putting out the decorations. They looked awesome! I even tried to decorate Brady by making a necklace out of this stuff. He loves to wear beaded necklaces so I didn't think it would be a big deal. Well, he got that necklace in his mouth and proceeded to run about the house 5 minutes before the guest were about to arrive pulling all of the little stars off all over the floor. I tried to get it back from him, but this became a game and made even more of a mess. It was SO funny!! I love that little (well, big) nut!
As for the food, some of the guest brought appetizers. We had one of my favorite dips (sausage, cream cheese and rotel), a veggie tray, chips and dip and crackers and a seafood dip. For the main entrees we grilled bratwurst dogs, regular hot dogs (the Nathan's skinless are yummmm-o!), grilled corn dogs and mini hamburgers. The corn dog recipe Mr. D. found here. We also had the thing everyone loves-- BLUEBERRY SALAD!!! We had pasta salad and I made a cute display of chips.
We ended up with 9 people total, counting Mr. D and myself. The prefect number for our little house. Some people had other parties to attend and they drifted out early. Mr. D, Tiffani, Kelly and I went to see the firework display in the next little town over. (Meghan missed her 1st SSDC due to a death in her family). We didn't really know where to set up and watch the show. We ended up extremely close to the action. It was fun. As per my New Year's resolution #2, I am learning more about the camera, and here are some pictures I took with the camera on firework mode.

When we got back from the fireworks, Meghan had made it over and enjoyed the tasty dessert Mr. D. had made. They were DELICIOUS chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches. MMMM - I may have one for breakfast! Go here for the recipe. We used vanilla ice cream. Everyone left around 11ish. I was asleep maybe 2 minutes later. Mr. D. said he thought it was the best SSDC ever.

morning of the SSDC

It is almost 8am on the morning of the SSDC (Star Spangled -insert my last name here-Celebration). To guest list is very small this year, due to all of the activity in the past week, and all of the activity to come in the next two weeks. It is very low key, just a few neighbors and friends. I am only expecting 5-7 people, so if you didn't get your invite to the bash- know it is a lot smaller than usual this year.
So, as I was saying - morning of.... no idea what we are having, haven't been to the store, no clue what is to come at 4pm today. Does this sound like me to be so unorganized where a social event is concerned?????? I am really going to have to step up my game today and pull off something fabulous.

total phone makeover

Tonight I made over my sweet little BlackBerry Pearl. We were shopping and I went into the T-moblie store and purchased a pink gel skin for the phone. I have since downloaded a new tickled pink theme for my background. My roller ball even lights up pink. Fun fun fun!!

one eyed Jack

Sometime in the night I lost a contact. Of course it was my last pair. I have to go buy a new pair this afternoon. I have my glasses but have just spent my day looking through one eye because I am outdoors a lot and wanted to wear my sunglasses!
